PBKS vs GT IPL Match Highlights: GT won by 3 wickets

On Sunday, the Gujarat Titans secured a narrow 3-wicket victory against the Punjab Kings in Mullanpur for the current Indian Premier League season.

The Titans restricted the Kings to a modest 142 runs in 20 overs and then reached the target with five balls to spare, thanks to Rahul Tewatia’s explosive 36 not out from 18 balls. Captain Shubman Gill contributed 35 runs and Sai Sudharsan added 31, setting the stage for Tewatia to finish the job and ensure a win for his team.

Prabhsimran Singh and Sam Curran started well for Punjab, but the effort was short-lived as R Sai Kishore, showcasing his skill as a top Indian spinner, took impressive figures of 4/33. Mohit Sharma also played a key role, taking 2/32, including the crucial wicket of Prabhsimran Singh, leaving the Kings struggling to compete.

Sam Curran, the Punjab Kings captain, chose to bat first. The Kings fielded the same team as their previous match, while the Titans made a change by bringing in Azmatullah Omarzai for Spencer Johnson.

After winning their first game at their new venue, the Punjab Kings have since suffered three consecutive losses at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur. Today marked their last home game of IPL 2024, and they were eager for a turnaround.

With just two wins from seven games, the Kings are currently ninth on the leaderboard, and as the season moves into its second half, they need victories to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Titans are also finding it tough, unable to match the consistency of their first two seasons when they reached the finals. With three wins and four losses, they are eighth on the table.
