The Punjab Kings achieved the seemingly impossible by executing a record-breaking run chase, scoring 262 runs in just 18.1 overs. Jonny Bairstow led the onslaught with a stellar 108 off 48 balls after his return to the side, supported by Prabhsimran Singh’s rapid fifty during the powerplay.
As Bairstow accelerated the scoring, Shashank Singh contributed significantly with a swift 68 off 28 balls, propelling PBKS to a remarkable victory.
Facing them, the Kolkata Knight Riders had set a formidable target of 261 runs in their 20 overs, having been sent in to bat first by Punjab Kings captain Sam Curran at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Friday.

The home team started strongly with Sunil Narine and Phil Salt putting together a 138-run opening partnership, with both batters surpassing fifty runs. Venkatesh Iyer and Andre Russell made valuable contributions of 39 and 24 runs, respectively.
Captain Shreyas Iyer also played a brisk innings, scoring 28 runs from just 10 balls, helping KKR achieve their highest total at the Eden Gardens.
The Kolkata Knight Riders have excelled in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL), emerging as one of the standout teams. With five wins from seven games, the two-time champions are in fine form this season. They are set to maintain their strong performance as they prepare to face the Punjab Kings in their upcoming match on Friday, April 26.
