It wasn’t easy, but Royal Challengers Bengaluru tasted the sweet victory of revenge today, securing a 35-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad after a fierce contest from the hosts.
Both teams dug deep into their lineups in a hard-fought battle, but Hyderabad’s top order unexpectedly collapsed, marking their toughest start this season.
RCB, winning the toss and choosing to bat first, saw a strong opening from du Plessis and Virat Kohli, who aggressively set the stage for their team.
However, strategic wickets by SRH bowlers temporarily slowed RCB’s momentum. A vibrant partnership between Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, each hitting impressive half-centuries, reignited RCB’s hopes.

Patidar, in particular, provided a vital surge of energy and runs, smashing 50 off just 20 balls, including five sixes, lighting up the Hyderabad evening.
However, when RCB needed a breakthrough with the ball, Jaydev Unadkat stepped up, taking key wickets of the crucial batters and Mahipal Lomror quickly, keeping the pressure on the visitors.
Thanks to a quick-fire cameo from Cameron Green, RCB managed to post a challenging total of 206 runs in their 20 overs, setting a competitive target against SRH’s potent batting lineup.
To the surprise of many, Bengaluru quickly took control with the new ball, causing chaos for SRH right from the start.
Will Jacks led the attack, dismissing Travis Head in the very first over to set the tone.
Following Jacks, Yash Dayal and especially Swapnil Singh continued the onslaught. The top order of SRH, except for Abhishek Sharma, faltered dramatically, leaving the hosts struggling at 56-4 by the fifth over.
Just when it looked like SRH might catch a break, RCB unleashed their secret weapon, Karn Sharma.
Karn delivered a stunning spell, taking two wickets in his first two overs, which further plunged SRH into trouble at 85-6.
However, SRH’s resilience was on display as captain Pat Cummins stepped up, hitting aggressively and scoring mostly through boundaries. His efforts alleviated some of the pressure from Shahbaz at the other end.

Cummins delivered a thrilling 31 runs off just 15 balls, but his innings was cut short when Cameron Green outfoxed him with a slower, shorter delivery. Cummins skied the ball high, leading to an easy catch.
This dismissal was the final blow for Hyderabad, who couldn’t overcome their early setbacks despite Shahbaz Ahmed’s valiant efforts. Ultimately, RCB secured a 35-run victory, marking only their second win of the season.
